Character Kickoff and 911 Tribute

At the end of last year students and staff
voted on a new Character Touchstone.
Our new touchstone is “Working hard,
passing classes; My future’s so bright, I
need Sunglasses!! You can see the new
touchstone on our agendas and on our
school shirts!! Each grade level has chosen
a color and students and staff will tiedye
their shirts that color. On Friday, September
2, we help a spirit day where students
wore their grade level color on
clothes and in hair!! (see below)
On Friday, September 9, with the help of a
Bayless High School Leadership class, our
school held a tribute to those who lost their
lives in the 911 incident. High school students
made coloring books for our students
and ribbons for staff and students.
They also sold t-shirts for $10.00. (see
right)

Sixth Grade Students
Take On Reading
Challenge

Sixth graders at Bayless Intermediate
will all be required to
read forty books this year!!!
Don’t be scared though, because
some students have
already made it one fourth of
the way there. Ms. Dunn and
Mrs. Stone read a book over
the summer that inspired this
requirement, The Book Whisperer.
Students will have all
year to reach this requirement
for each genre. The genres
being read will include poetry,
realistic and historical fiction,
fantasy, science fiction, mystery,
informational, biography,
autobiography, memoir and
books of student choice. We
cannot wait to see our students
succeed. Seeing students so
excited about reading is great!
Can you do it?
