With negativity dominating the news cycle, it is sometimes difficult to remember the good that flows from U.S. foreign and domestic policies. Yet, at Bayless High School, we work every day with Bosnian students and families whose lives were profoundly impacted by public policy and the kindness of the American people.
As the past gives way to present, the children from Bosnia are graduating from our high schools and colleges to carry on as the next generation of proud Americans. These are true Americans - immigrants who have captured the American spirit and followed its promises and dreams through determination, hard work and a focus on education.
We are pleased to invite you on Tuesday, May 25 at 4 p.m. in the Bayless School District’s Raymond Keller Auditorium to the premier of “6 Words from Bosnia,” a short documentary film about six friends and the journey of their families from Bosnia to the United States. The stories are deeply personal historical narratives of fleeing a war-torn country and fulfilling the American dream in St. Louis. This movie was filmed, edited and produced by six students and their friends in the BTV video production class at Bayless High School in St. Louis, Missouri.
“6 Words from Bosnia” is scheduled to appear on HEC Public Television in late May and June, but you are invited to see it first with the students and community who brought the story to life.
