Bayless Mission Statement The Bayless School District will provide a safe and enriching environment where ALL children will learn to become responsible and empowered citizens, where diversity builds character and strength, knowledge enhances freedom and opportunity and commitment leads to success.
The foundation of BSD is Character Education. BSD’s core ethical values are inspired by a letter allegedly written by President Abraham Lincoln in which he implored his young son’s headmaster to teach his son Tad to be Smart, Good and Strong. Character Education at Bayless is alive and has grown and spread organically, receiving 33 Promising Practices Awards with all schools earning Missouri and National School of Character recognition: Elementary in 2011, Junior High in 2009 and 2015, and the High School in 2015. Today BSD is one of the most culturally diverse districts in the State, representing 31 nationalities. The schools provide a nurturing atmosphere in the lives of all students and inspires all members of the community to lead lives of character as they pursue their American Dream.
